Step 1

Start by heating your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. In a small bowl, mix together paprika, onion and garlic powder, salt, oregano, thyme, black pepper, cayenne pepper, and brown sugar. Cut the salmon into four pieces and brush them lightly with oil. Then, rub the spice mixture all over the salmon, making sure each piece is well coated. Place the salmon on a baking tray with sides and pop it in the oven. Let it bake for about 15 to 20 minutes, until the fish flakes easily with a fork. While the salmon is cooking, roughly chop the grapefruit into bite-sized chunks and toss it with the other salsa ingredients. You can make the salsa ahead of time and keep it in the fridge until you’re ready to serve. When the salmon is done, spoon the sweet and spicy grapefruit salsa on top and enjoy!

03 / EXTRA DETAILS

Good to know.

Cook's tip

- Use fresh grapefruit for the salsa to ensure the best flavor and juiciness.
- Cook the salmon skin-side down first to get a crispy texture.
- Avoid overcooking the fish; it should be tender and flaky but still moist inside.

Why you’ll love it

This dish perfectly balances sweet and spicy flavors, making it a refreshing twist on classic salmon. The grapefruit salsa adds bright citrus notes that complement the rich fish, creating a vibrant and satisfying meal.

Serving ideas

Serve with a side of steamed rice or quinoa to soak up the salsa juices. A simple green salad or roasted vegetables also pair well, helping to balance the bold flavors of the dish.

Storage & leftovers

Store leftover salmon and salsa separately in airtight containers in the refrigerator. Consume within two days for the best freshness. Reheat the salmon gently to prevent drying it out.
